Check out the different groups on the website to find one that matches your level. Contact MWTennis, via email, and make an appointment to attend a complimentary session. This will allow both parties to evaluate the level and make a decision from that point.
Am I allowed to watch practices?
You are certainly allowed to watch practice. Having said that, the best environment for learning is one where your child can free up and focus on what the coaches are showing and telling them. When a parent is constantly hovering and watching, especially when no other parents are present, the child is put in an uncomfortable space. Generally, our parents watch when they come to pick their child up at the very tail end of practice.
How do I know if it is raining at FCTC?
Sign up rainedout.com and choose Family Circle Tennis Center as your organization and follow directions. This will be the way FCTC communicates about weather delays or cancellations.
How can I subscribe to email updates and newsflashes about MWTennis?
Makeups will be allowed for inclement weather or illness. Classes missed due to vacations, other conflicting events or things that are choices will not be allowed to be made up.
What is Full Time High Performance?
This group is for players who wish to train for 4-6 hours per day. MW offers a classroom setting, with teachers, for players to attend South Carolina Connections Academy which is an NCAA accredited online curriculum. These players are looking to maximize their tennis training and compete at the highest possible level.
How can a player move up from group to group?
Each group has a set of criterion that defines mastery of that level. When the player satisfies these requirements then the coach will move them to the next group level.
Should my child be taking private lessons?
Yes. Every player that competes should receive weekly one on one sessions to develop and grow as a player.
How do I know which tournaments to play?
Your Head coach will provide a semester schedule of tournaments that are appropriate for your child's level of play. Please ask for this if you are interested.
What do I do if my child faces sportsmanship or adversary issues during a tournament match?
At MWTennis, we teach our players and parents to always take the high road and give the benefit of the doubt to our oppponents. It is a good idea to teach players how to ask the tournament director for a line judge if a continued pattern of poor sportsmanship occurs. Parents should not engage in "outcheering" other parents or bystanders. Always take the high road.
How can I let coaches know how the tournament went for my child?
Every coach loves to receive feedback. EMAIL is the best way to be effective for the coach to understand the issues, good or bad. Phone calls take valuable free time away from our coaches, for this type of thing. Our coaches also have families and need some time away from their job, just like our clients. Please show them the courtesy that you would like to receive from your profession. Weekends, late nights and early mornings are not the time to contact coaches.
Why do I need to give a 30 day notice if I decide to leave the program?
This allows MW to fill the vacancy in the group in a timely manner as well as keep our coaches gainfully employed.
Can MWTennis Academy students receive tennis equipment (racquets, bags, string & grip) at a discount?
